Marshside RSPB today: sandy coloured Starling. Probably leucistic bird but unable to exclude juvenile Rose-coloured Starling.

MARSHSIDE: 2 bar headed geese on the sandplant lagoon today (3 seen yesterday according to the hide sightings log), common sandpiper in front of hide, heron, lots of juvenile shelduck and canada geese. Whitethroat on the path leading to Sandgrounders hide.

Martin Mere, 27/6/09. Lots of juvenile avocets about today, from the ron barker hide along with 3 juvenile ringed plover. Excellent views of 3 green sandpipers and 2 common sandpipers from the raines hide.
Merseyside: possible LEAST TERN Seaforth LWT at midday then flew north also present on the 2/6/09.
Cheshire: 2 Spoonbill, 1 Spotted Redshank and 1 Ruff – Inner Marsh Farm.
Possible LEAST TERN has grey rump and central tail. Last seen mid-day in flight heading N of Seaforth. Elsewhere, 2 Green Sandpipers at Martin Mere; 2 Ravens a Peregrine and a Little Egret on Downholland Moss first thing; Little Egret at Pennington Flash.
Inner Marsh Farm ~ 2 Spoonbill’s, 1 Water Rail, 1 Spotted Redshank and 1 Green Sandpiper.
Wirral: Spotted Flycatcher at Hilbre Island

Lancs: Martin Mere ~ 2 Green Sandpiper’s from the Hale Hide, Little Egret this afternoon from the Harrier Hide. + 2 Marsh Harrier’s.
Marshside: Barn Owl near Sandplant at 10.28pm
Lancs: Martin Mere ~ Two Wood Sandpiper reported on the mere mid-afternoon although no sign since. A probable Garden Warbler seen near the Ron Barker hide. Raptors included Peregrine, Marsh Harrier,Barn Owl. Ad Med Gull reported yestersay.

Martin Mere: nr adult Mediterranean Gull on the mere at 2.30pm this afternoon
Martin Mere today: Greenshank, 2 Marsh Harriers, Kingfisher, Barn Owl. At Parkgate, Wirral ~ 2 Spoonbills. At Stocks reservoir at twighlight, a Little Tern.
Probable African Royal Tern in flight distantly from Llandudno pier towards Little Orme at 14.20. No further sign by 7pm (but Roseate Tern off Llandudno west shore just after mid-day)
No further sign of the Red-backed Shrike near Brockholes by 12.45
African Royal Tern relocated mid afternoon today at Llandudno and showing up til 6pm at least. Guess where i’ll be tommorrow!
Lancs: Red-backed Shrike male until 9.10pm north of Brockholes Quarry LWT at Boilton Wood in SE corner of 1st field cSD.582.314 The bird is missing some tail feathers.
Wirral: 2 Arctic Skuas (dark phase) – Hilbre this morning. Grey Wagtail at Lingham Lane. Spotted Redshank at Inner Marsh Farm. Hobby over Neston.
Conwy: AFRICAN ROYAL TERN ad again Llandudno flew from pier west round Great Orme at 8.10pm
Saturday morning: Hooded Crow, Downholland Moss, E of Sutton’s Bridge in field with air raid shelter. Scaup, Neumann’s Flash.
3 yellow wagtails (m,f and poss juv) in field just past Three Pools then flew towards golf course. 4 corn buntings, 3 reed buntings, 5 whitethroats, 2 reed warblers plus little owl Moss Lane on farm buildings. Thurs 10AM
